Tips on Using Tanning Beds

By Tim Gorman When using a tanning bed, you want to achieve the maximum tan for the minimum exposure to the UV rays. By following these tips, you can spend less time tanning, while maintaining the level of tan you want. First, lotions are essential for achieving your tanning goal. Different tanning bed lotions serve different purposes, and the first one you need to use is called an accelerator. Accelerating lotions are designed to do just that accelerate the tanning process. This type of lotion will help you build your base tan, but eventually you will need to switch to a new product. Once you notice that you are no longer getting darker, you will need to switch to a Step 2 lotion. The lotions that follow are typically labeled in steps 3, 4, 5, and so on, and should always be used in order. You will know when it is time to step up when you stop getting darker. Once you achieve the tan that you want, stop moving up in steps. NEVER skip steps this will not accelerate the tanning process and will only allow you to get burned. Another mistake people make when they use tanning beds is over-exposure. Three times a week should be enough to achieve the desired level of tan. Some people need even less, but NO ONE needs more. Tanning more often will not make you darker and in some cases can even slow the tanning process. Once you achieve the level of tan you want, you can typically maintain it with fewer sessions. Last but not least, always wear eye protection and never exceed the maximum time limit on any particular booth. Happy tanning! Why Marketing Strategy Is So Important

By Andrew Rowe As globalization continues and competition becomes ultra-fierce, now more than ever, its important that your company is constantly assessing and reassessing its go-to-market strategy. This strategic marketing function is something that companies often believe that they do well, but the reality is that many firms dont have the resources in-house to do it at all. A company that is selling into competitive markets needs to be constantly assessing and reassessing its competitive positioning and its Unique Selling Proposition (USP), while realigning its targeting of market segments according to its best opportunities, in order to create lasting sustainable competitive advantage. If a company is not hitting its sales goals, it may not be because its sales force is ineffective, but rather because it has the wrong marketing strategy — e.g. its trying to sell the wrong products to the wrong customers through the wrong channels. This is why strategic marketing planning is so important. Strategic marketing helps companies to clearly define and refine their approach to the marketplace, focus their resources and shift their marketing strategy in order to align their company with their best opportunities and where the highest likelihood of actually gaining market leadership. If your company needs to increase sales, you may not have a sales problem, but a strategic marketing problem. How do you know if your revenue shortfall is a sales or a marketing problem? Consider bringing in an outside strategic marketing consultant to do an assessment of your overall company marketing strategy, to talk to your current customers, to reassess the competitive landscape and to figure out whether or not your company is properly targeting the right markets and customers with the right products. This process can go a long way towards helping you figure out how to increase your companys sales, or to stop a decline in sales. Make a New Life Resolution This Year - Get Organized in 2007 with These Top 5 Organizing Tips

By Susie Glennan What is the one resolution that tops most lists every year? Yes, many wish for that extra weight loss and better health, but what most long for is more time with their family & friends. Time to enjoy life and connect with those they love the most. Quality time not spent doing or achieving, but loving and believing. Whats the best way to get this extra time? Simple, organizing your life, every aspect of it from your business to your home, to your car, to even the purse you carry. Spend less time searching and more time enjoying. For over seventeen years, The Busy Woman Inc, http://www.thebusywoman.com, has been on a mission to help women organize. They relied on input from thousands of real women and spent years in the development of a product line that focuses on results. President, Susie Glennan, is an expert in this field and last month alone was featured in USA Today, Real Simple Magazine and KNX 1070 Radio. Her products also get national recognition and are currently featured in iVillages stuff they love. Glennan states, If you’re a busy woman you MUST stay organized and on top of every little detail in your day. You must learn to prioritize, take time to plan your day in advance, and schedule in free time. We based our entire Busy Woman line of products on enabling you to do just that. Glennan provides the following top 5 organizing tips for 2007: 1) Find the Right Daily Planner Look for one that is right for you and your busy schedule and use it religiously. Everyone has different personalities and different tasks to accomplish so personalize it according to your needs. Always have your planner easily accessible. For example, keep it open on the passengers seat while driving and on a central counter or table at home. 2) Learn How To Use Your Planner for Best Results - There are many ways to schedule and plan in a daily planner. But because your brain functions in a rational order and focuses on the first appointment it sees, you should write things down in time order. Other planners have you schedule according to person, which makes you search for the first appointment of the day. 3) Schedule the Night Before - Block your time on your daily planner pages the night before. This will keep you from feeling hurried while writing out your schedule during the morning rush. Giving yourself the opportunity to plan your day in a focused, calm environment, without pressure will help you stay on target. Also, consider putting your planner on your nightstand in the evening. That way as things come to you during the night, you can easily write them down. 4) Schedule Travel Time - Most busy women/moms travel, whether for work or family functions. Schedule those trips and dont forget to schedule not only the travel time, but also time to gather all the important items you need. Jot down those items in your daily planner and any other special things you might need. Then remember to check your planner right before you leave. 5) Use the right tools Look throughout your home and office and locate areas that need to be organized. With the right tools, you can easily organize your office, living room (no more looking for the remote), kids room, bathroom, car, etc. Look to The Busy Woman website to fulfill all your organizing needs. This year, you can keep those resolutions. Stop by The Busy Woman website to find tips and articles, as well as a complete selection of daily planners and organizing tools. See how with the right tools, you can do it all. How to Lose Thigh Fat - Are You Tired of the Infomercial Gimmicks Too?

By Tom Gifford Have you been unsuccessful in trying to lose thigh fat? If this has been a problem for you, there is a good chance that you have been trying to do lots of thigh exercises in hope that it will result in “toning” that area. A lot of resources out there on how to lose thigh fat will tell you that doing a lot of thigh exercises is the answer. This information is blatantly wrong! Its time you learned that truth about why lots of thigh exercises won’t help you lose thigh fat… 1. You cannot “spot reduce” Spot reduction is the common idea that if you want to lose fat in a specific area, you do so by working the muscle underneath. Unfortunately, spot reduction is a myth that has been around for a long time. If you have a lot of fat covering your thighs, doing lots of exercises for that area will not result in localized fat loss! Think about this as it relates to your abs. A lot of people will try to lose stomach fat by doing lots of crunches. If this worked and you truly did lose fat directly over the abs, then you would have a slim sexy stomach in the very front and flabby love handles on the sides and in the back. As you can tell, this is not possible. If someone has a ripped six pack, they are toned and have low body fat all over their body! Losing thigh fat is no different. In order to lose thigh fat, you need to lose fat all over your body. Lets continue… 2. Losing total body fat will result in fat loss in the thighs. If you are going to lose fat in general, you are going to lose fat all over your body. The first place that people start to gain fat is in the stomach and thighs. Consequently, sometimes those areas are the last places to lose fat as well. In order to lose total body fat, you need to be doing the right combination of diet, a specific type of cardio called interval training, and total body resistance training. You need to put your body into a state where it is burning fat during exercise and at rest! When you are eating and exercising right, you will start to lose fat in the belly, thighs, arms, everywhere! So don’t waste anymore time doing just thigh exercises. If you take a synergistic approach, you will see the results all over your body. This goes for someone who wants to lose 5lbs of fat and someone who wants to lose 50. 3. No fad gimmick will help you lose thigh fat. Now we know spot reduction is not possible and losing total body fat is the way to go. Therefore, you should be able to see that all the fad gimmicks that promise you will lose thigh fat in “20 minutes 3 times a week” are a bunch of nonsense. The people and companies selling those products know they don’t work like the infomercials say, but they are more than happy to take your money. Focus on what you learned in this article and you should start to see some success. Now that you know how to lose thigh fat the right way, it is time that you take action! Tom Gifford is a Certified Personal Trainer by the American Council on Exercise. His website at http://www.TheFatLossZone.com offers a free 47 page ebook titled “How to Fire Up Your Metabolism and Lose Body Fat Permanently”. Tom’s free newsletter from The Fat Loss Zone is jam packed with tips and techniques guaranteed to get you on the fast track to having a slim and sexy physique. Jamie Oliver: Cracking A Regionalized Culinary Italian Mindset

By Alessandro Nicolo Until last week, I’d never heard of Jamie Oliver. Stumbling and flipping through channels during the intermission of a hockey playoff game, I landed on the foodnetwork where British Chef Jamie Oliver (a British chef? Who knew?) was in Italy in search of true and pure rustic regional Italian cooking; Italy is regional on many social levels. The episode intrigued me since I not only cook but also consider myself a purist in the Italian kitchen. Brave kid. I had to watch. It’s difficult for North Americans to get into an Italian mindset when it comes to demanding refinement. We’re not a society devoted to food. It’s more a chore in our day. We often, in some cases, eat like depraved gluttons. It’s in Italy where I came to observe a dietary habit that was subtle in its near perfection. Everything from the times they eat to how they serve and compliment their food, Italians know what they’re doing. So subtle even world famous chefs who regard Italian cuisine as simplistic overlook it. Until they pay closer attention. I have often lamented about how I wish people would spend a week in an Italian village. There they would learn to appreciate that food is a serious part of the human experience. They would also come to see why the sophisticated culinary diet of Italy is first rate. It’s not all about spaghetti and meatballs. In some parts of Italy rice is consumed more. Betcha you didn’t know that, eh? Jamie Oliver learnt what I learned the first time I went to Italy. There are laws of food to observe. Just like there are natural and economic laws, there are culinary laws. Not in the haughty French manner (a society first introduced to high cuisine by Catherine De Medici who was known as L’Italienne in France) but in an understated Italian way. When it comes to food, tasteful conservatism and minimalism prevails. In any event, you can’t just mix and match ingredients. Fusion cuisine is all the rage and trend among chefs and diners these days; but don’t tell that to the Italians. In fact, it’s what frustrated Oliver during the show. He explained that while he wished he had been born Italian, he could not understand their utter stubbornness and lack of open-mindedness when it comes to different interpretations of cooking. He submitted that the British were more open to other cuisine’s whereas the Italians were less predisposed to try, say, Thai food. He’s right. On the other hand, it’s easy for nations without a national diet or cuisine to be open. Then again, while the McDonald’s experience has been lukewarm in Italy at best, it seems to be doing fine in France - a people with a long established culinary heritage. Extending into other cultures, it would be interesting to see the results in places like Lebanon, Japan and China. I deliberately leave out the regional Mediterranean diet at large in the interest of time. Suffice to acknowledge the region has often been regarded to have a healthy lifestyle and diet plays the largest role. I digress. For years, I wondered about Oliver’s astute comment. Simplistically, therein lies why Italy is, well, Italy. If they weren’t so single-minded and devoted to their art, they would cease to be Italian. It’s a trade off of sorts. Italy is one of the last of the Mohicans among nations (especially among the G7) in that artisanship and craftsmanship of the highest quality -whether in shoes, machinery or furniture making and of course food - prevails. In economics they call it opportunity costs. Sure, Italy could attempt to mass-produce in their typical chaotic fashion to make more money but that would not be fair to the rest of us. Italy remains a land ruled by dynasties who focus on one or two products and master its contents; just like how Charlie Parker mastered the saxophone without ever reading a single note; it’s in the Italian blood to make beautiful things. Though not the first, I’m glad Jamie Oliver educated and brought Italian cooking to its roots. Italian know-how takes a backseat to no one. He evidently underestimated the will of how Italians do things. He did a great job - and service - from where I stand. I’m sure Italians would approve. friendlymisanthropist.blogspot.com - The Commentator Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Alessandro_Nicolo http://EzineArticles.com/?Jamie-Oliver:-Cracking–A-Regionalized-Culinary-Italian-Mindset&id=211110 prescription and drugs tramadol injection buy prescription ultram where without buy tramadol now carisoprodol pharmacy tramadol

Sustainability Today

By Dayna Dias Achieving a sustainable lifestyle today is of paramount importance for the health of future generations. The devastation of our natural environment by individuals and corporations who carelessly pollute the water and air, clearcut forests, and destroy topsoil and natural habitats is in many cases irreversible. Those of us living an urban or suburban lifestyle may just be beginning to feel the repercussions of our industrial lifestyle in the form of climate change. However, the perpetuation of anti-environment practices is sure to cause consequences that we cannot even imagine. The world in which we live is a system in which all elements interrelate and coexist in a harmonious balance of creation and destruction. Nothing exists or functions in isolation. Everything is interconnected and every act affects the future of countless other elements. This concept, also known as systems thinking, is easy to see when observing an ecosystem, especially when the harmony of that ecosystem is disrupted. The extinction or reduction of one species rebounds through the entire food chain, causing havoc on the lives of the rest of the species. A sustainable lifestyle is one that seeks to harmonize with the elements of the natural world. We can use the forces of nature to our advantage, without abusing them and causing as little disturbance to the natural environment as possible. One such example is harnessing the energy of the sun. Solar energy can be captured in a variety of ways. The most basic way, passive solar energy, refers to the type of construction materials used and their placement. For example, a house designed to face the south allows the heat of the sun to warm the house all day long. Add to that other passive solar features such as thermal mass and the house is already well on its way to energy-independence. Industrialism and the Information Age have provided our society with the tools it needs to reverse our current path of environmental degradation. Solar panel technology and the multitude of other inventions for collecting the energy of the sun are constantly improving and becoming more affordable. We may also gather energy from the wind, water, ground and even our own waste products. The key to becoming sustainable as individuals and as a society is our own willingness to change and to be creative. Permaculture is a design system that guides us to build and manage sustainable living and working environments in which all of the elements overlap and interrelate to create a functioning whole. Combining our knowledge of ecological principles with our earth-friendly technology we have only to succeed in achieving a more sustainable lifestyle today, and a brighter future for our children and grandchildren. Couples Relationship Assessment Quiz - Part 1: Conscious Commitment

By Glenn Cohen Do you feel like you are committed enough to making your relationship successful? Or do you want to make sure you and your partner have a relationship filled with safety, friendship, trust, respect, admiration, joy, passion, and love? The first step in the process to Co-Create a Conscious Relationship is to make a conscious commitment to your partner, your relationship, and to yourself. Establishing a sense of confidence, safety, and trust and a feeling of unity concerning the journey you are beginning is critically important. This assessment will take a thorough look at just how committed you are. This free set of assessments offers you the chance to find powerful answers. If you are willing to take the time to reflect on these questions, discuss them, and be honest with yourselves and each other, it can help you on your journey to Co-Create a Conscious Relationship so you can be Best Friends During the Day, Lovers at Night, and Partners for Life The adventure of life gives us the incredible opportunity to learn and grow as individuals. I like to say that we do not stop learning, stretching, growing, maturing, and changing until we are 6 feet under. What happens so often is we go through life unaware that we dont know what we dont know. In this fast-paced world, many of us do not have or take the time to sit, take a deep breath, and really think about the statements addressed in these assessments. We usually do not reflect on and consider the impact the answers to these statements can have on our relationship. We must gain the awareness, learn the techniques, and practice the skills to Co-Create a Conscious Relationship. Take your time to think about each statement and be honest. One partner should use a black pen and the other partner a red pen. Rate your degree of agreement for each statement on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being a definite yes and 1 being a definite no. Write your score on the first line to the left of each statement. The second line is for your partners score. You may find it difficult to give certain statements a low score. You may worry that your response will hurt or offend your partner or create conflict. Honesty, however, is critical for the success of the Co-Create a Conscious Relationship program. Also, no matter what score your partner writes down, be supportive; do not get defensive, resentful, or angry. Thank him or her for being courageous and honest. All of the topics in this assessment series are covered in detail, with exercises, in my book The Journey from I-TO-WE. 1 Conscious Commitment _____ _____ - 1 - I am committed to our relationship. _____ _____ - 2 - I am committed to keeping our relationship safe and loving. _____ _____ - 3 - I am committed to being the best partner I can be. _____ _____ - 4 - I am committed to being absolutely personally responsible for my decisions and actions. _____ _____ - 5 - I am committed to being conscious in listening, understanding, and empathizing. _____ _____ - 6 - I am committed to being emotionally open and honest with my partner. _____ _____ - 7 - I am committed to learning my partners languages and speaking them every day. _____ _____ - 8 - I am committed to admitting my denials, facing my fears, and being truthful. _____ _____ - 9 I am committed to learning, stretching, growing, maturing, and changing. _____ _____ - 10 - I am committed to treating my partner so he or she feels safe, loved, and cared for. _____ - Total Score You have 10 statements for a total possible score of 100. If your total is: 80 or higher — You scored in the upper percentile Congratulations! You have obviously taken the time to work, ensuring your relationship has the best chance to be successful. Though your relationship is strong, it can only benefit from gaining new awareness, new skills, and new techniques. Good luck in Co-Creating a Conscious Relationship! 60 79 — You scored in the average range Congratulations! Re-read the statements you scored low on and take the time to learn how to raise your score. Consider Co-Creating a Conscious Relationshipthrough gaining new awareness, new skills, and new techniques. You and the relationship will be much stronger on The Journey from I-TO-WE. 0 59 — You scored in the lower range Congratulations! You now know where you need to take the time to closely examine these areas of your relationship. It would benefit both of you to think about these statements, and work toward Co-Creating a Conscious Relationship through gaining new awareness, new skills, and new techniques. Commit to each other to give unselfishly and unconditionally to dowhatever you need to do I hope this part of this assessment has been enlightening and helpful. When you get a chance, take the next set of this assessment. Loans Are lenders cheating on APR’s?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Michael_Challiner]Michael Challiner A pound from one lender is as good as a pound from another. So when you’re shopping for a loan, the key issue becomes the interest rate. Consequently, when you read press advertisements and visit web sites, the Annual Percentage Rate of interest (APR) highly influences which lenders or loan brokers you apply to. After all, the government introduced APR’s as a standard calculation that every lender has to use, precisely to help the public make reliable comparisons. But who’s checking that the APR’s are calculated correctly? Could some be cheating by promoting a lower APR than the rate they’re entitled to? The commercial success of a promotion can be hugely improved by a really low APR. We think some must be tempted, don’t you? In a survey 92% of all loan advertisements checked quoted an APR Typical. (You’ll find below, a detailed explanation of what APR actually means including its variants). The APR Typical means that at least 66% of applicants approved for a loan are offered that APR rate or cheaper . No one included in that two thirds will have been offered a higher rate than the stated APR Typical . The problem is that no independent body is checking these figures. So the system is open for cheating. The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) regulates the selling of Personal loans but even they admit that their resources are over stretched and they only check on a reactive basis. We think that’s administrative speak for hardly ever! The influential trade magazine Moneyfacts, has twice raised the same concerns with the OFT asking them what checks are carried out on the APR’s quoted by lenders. After all lenders can get to the top of that magazine’s Best-Buy Tables with a low APR and win significant amounts of business as a result. The OFT clearly needs to do more. Understanding APR’s APR APR is short for Annual Percentage Rate. It illustrates the true cost of the money borrowed on loans, mortgages, and credit cards. And by law, consumers must be provided with that information. The APR calculation takes into account the basic interest rate, any initial fees, when interest is charged (i.e. daily, weekly, monthly or annually) and any other costs you have to pay. As all lenders are legally required to calculate APR the same way, it should enable consumers to make meaningful cost comparisons between lending products. So if one finance company is offering you a loan at 5.6% plus an application fee of 100 and another is offering you an interest rate of 5.8% with no fees, then a comparison of the APR figures will prove which of the loans is cheapest. APR Variable When you see APR with the word Variable written after it, this means that the interest rate can vary whilst you are repaying the loan the interest rate is not fixed. APR Variable Typical This variant is used in 92% of all loan advertisements. It means that the advertiser can’t be specific about the interest rate applicants will be offered as their rates vary, usually in response to the applicant’s personal credit ratings and the amount of money they want to borrow. Therefore, APR Variable Typical is used to give the public a general impression of the interest rates currently on offer from that lender. The addition of the word Typical means that at least 66% of applicants approved for a loan are offered that rate or cheaper . Then when a loan offer is confirmed, the paperwork will reveal the actual APR or APR Variable actually being offered. Don’t forget that the word Variable within the description also means that the interest rate isn’t fixed and may vary from time to time, go up or down. APR Typical This is the same as APR Variable Typical except that the interest rate is not variable - it is fixed for the duration of the loan.
